Research
Study of the biology of tick and mosquito species in the region, aimed at identifying the dispersal mechanisms and ecological variables influencing their presence.
These parameters are essential for developing predictive models of current and future distribution, as well as for assessing the associated public health risks.
Information and prevention
Mosquitoes and ticks represent an emerging challenge for both human and veterinary health, due to their ability to transmit various pathogens.
Furthermore, they are continuously expanding, with the introduction of new invasive species.
Only a common and sustained effort, supported by accurate information, can control their abundance and prevent the diseases they cause.
Distribution of invasive mosquito alien species
The map shows the distribution of three invasive mosquito species: the tiger mosquito, the korean mosquito and the japanese mosquito.
The map has been continuously updated since 2008 and is based on field data collected during monitoring activities until 2025 through the capture of adults, larvae, and eggs.
